WiDi

Since it relies on Intel-based screen sharing, you must have an Intel-based laptop to use the WiDi (Wireless Display) function.

This function allows you to duplicate, project, or extend the laptop screen on your Smart TV.

Starting WiDi

WiDi is a technology created by Intel. We recommend using an Intel-based laptop for WiDi connections.

Connecting a Laptop

To connect an Intel-based laptop to your Smart TV, perform the following steps:

  1. On your Smart TV, select Smart Home () > Settings > .

  2. Set Miracast™/Intel® WiDi to On.

    • In Wi-Fi Ready Models, Miracast™/Intel® WiDi is displayed as Intel® WiDi.

  3. On the laptop, run the Intel® WiDi software.

  4. Click Search for WiDi adapter.

  5. Select the desired Smart TV.

  6. Click Connect to send a connection request from the laptop to your Smart TV.

  7. A PIN appears on your Smart TV.

  8. On the laptop, type the PIN that appears on your Smart TV.

  9. Click Continue to establish the connection between the laptop and your Smart TV.

  10. On the laptop, right-click the desktop and select Graphics Option.

  11. Select the desired output type.

    • Intel® WiDi: Outputs the screen to the WiDi TV.

    • Built-in Display: Outputs the screen to the laptop.

    • Clone Displays: Outputs the screen to the laptop and the WiDi TV.

    • Extended Desktop: Extends the laptop screen to the WiDi TV.

  • When you set Miracast™/Intel® WiDi to On, Wi-Fi Direct also turns On.

  • If possible, connect your device to a 5 GHz access point.

  • You only need to input the PIN the first time that you establish the WiDi connection. After authenticating the PIN, you can use WiDi whenever the laptop and Smart TV are connected.

  • The PIN differs based on the Intel® WiDi version.

  • You can use the Magic Remote Control if you use Intel® WiDi version 4.1 or later.
